Responsive Web Design - True & Faithful

Redesign of True & Faithful dog rescue website
Try the Prototype

What is True and Faithful?

True & Faithful connects shelter dogs with people looking to adopt. This project was a student exercise for General Assembly User Experience Design Immersive. Our team employed the UX double-diamond design process to redesign the company's responsive website.

Research

User Interviews

In order to make sure we were interviewing the right people and to bring a high level of focus to our research, we used a screener survey to identify potential users.

User Testing

We asked 4 users to complete 2 tasks on the True and Faithful website.

  1. Find an animal to adopt
  2. Find information about the adoption process
Simplify the layout and provide clear steps

Synthesize

Affinity Mapping

A few major themes emerged from the interview process, mainly that users had difficulties with online adoption because of a lack of communication from the shelters and delays in updating animal listings.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The adoption process differs greatly from shelter to shelter which can result in a frustrating experience.

Heather is a busy nurse working long hours with limited time. How might we help her access information easily to achieve her goal of adopting a new family member?

Next Steps

For further research, our team discussed that it would be a good idea to reach out to the owners of the site to go over the changes we designed.
By reaching out to the people who have adopted from the True & Faithful’s existing site and compare experience to our redesign, we’ll be able to learn about actual users journey with current and new True & Faithful.
After completely building out the website, we wanted to expand our process to designing a complete hi-fidelity mobile mockup to conduct rounds of usability testing.
Building out the hi-fidelity prototypes entirely with full pages, and do more usability testing to eliminate path redundancies is our group’s next goal.
We noticed a pathway that can lead users straight to the application page without seeing the dogs at all. As the primary purpose of shelter is to have as many dogs to be adopted, we thought this pathway that users might take serve the opposite purpose of the shelter.
